Yamato Museum
The museum shows the technological developments and the importance of peace through the history of Kure. The one-tenth scale model of the battleship Yamato is the main attraction.

Irifuneyama Memorial Hall
The former official residence of Commander-in-Chief of the Kure Naval Base displays material relating to the former Japanese Navy. You can see very rare “Kinkarakami” (gold embossed paper).

Kure Municipal Museum of Art
The museum houses 861 works from Japan and overseas including Auguste Renoir’s “Girl with a straw hat”. Strolling along the avenue with 15 sculptures fronting the museum is very nice.

Shimo-kamagari Island
The island is famous for oranges, and has a facility, which introduces Korean Envoys during Edo period. There are some other traditional Japanese art museums.

Ondo-no-seto Park
The park is well known for its beautiful azaleas. Enjoy the view of Seto Inland Sea from the park and the legend of Taira no Kiyomori, a powerful samurai in the 12th century.
